I'm 5% in and this thing is telegraphing its intentions a little too strenuously. When the cop interrogating you has  "meadow green eyes, ringed by deep emerald" that lock into you with "drilling intensity," who can doubt where this nonsense is going? I give it to maybe 20% before I chuck the whole thing.


I don't like to hate read, it doesn't seem fair to the author, but this could also be quite fun to tear apart.


And is the "don't use they/their as a singular' a rule we're still sticking to these days? If so, this is an egregious violation.
