#Bookadayuk Day 3: Best Home Front Novel (WWII)

City of Thieves: A Novel - David Benioff

I don't read WWII novels, so I don't actually have a favorite novel about the home front. I haven't made any sort of conscious decision to not read war novels, I just never seem to do so. However, I did read City of Thieves for my bookclub, and I suppose if I were Russian it would count. Here is my original review: Review: City of Thieves

The book managed to be both deadly serious and bizarrely picaresque, using dark (often black) comedy to carry the heroes through bombings, murder, and starvation.
